What are pierogi?

A pierog is a half circular Polish noodle dumpling traditionally filled with potato, cheese, & onion, sauerkraut, mushroom, cabbage, or fruit. There are extremely versatile and can be tailored with different fillings and methods of cooking that will make anyone’s mouth happy!

What do i serve with pierogi?

Cooked pierogi are often served with any one or combination of the following:

Sour cream, sautéed cabbage, kielbasa or smoked sausage, grilled apples, applesauce, browned butter, butter & onions, sautéed mushrooms, sauerkraut ,or caramelized onions.

Depending on the chosen cooking style, they can also be dipped in ranch, hot sauce, or an aioli.

Be warned: most babcias will slap you with a hot wooden spoon if they catch you dipping their dumplings in ketchup. But hey, do what you will. The consequences are yours to live with.

how are your pierogi packaged?

All of our pierogi are pre-cooked, flash frozen, and packaged in resealable bags in half or full dozens per flavor for at home preparation.

We find that as long as the packs stay sealed, they hold up for quite a long time in the freezer. All the more reason to stock up on the monthly flavors you love!

Are your pickles cooked?

They aren’t. We have always believed that the secret to a perfect pickle is in the details. Over the years, we have spent countless hours testing recipes, technique, and sourcing the best local produce to achieve maximum taste and crunch. Because of this, all of our pickled items are uncooked and must be refrigerated before and after opening. The only exception to this in our pickled offerings are the pickled eggs.

What’s the best way to cook pierogi?

For best results:

✤ Defrost the number of desired pierogi in the fridge or on the counter on a plate or pan prior to cooking. Heat butter or oil in a pan on medium heat (butter always tastes better)& cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until nicely golden browned.*don’t flip too soon or they’ll stick

**too high of heat toughens the dough

From frozen:

✤Bring a medium pot of water to a slow boil and add frozen rogi. Stir gently, making sure none stick to the bottom and cook uncovered until rogi float- about 3-4 minutes. Drain.

* do not overcook

✤Melt butter or oil in a pan and add frozen rogi. Cook on low-medium heat for 5-6 minutes to defrost and warm. Then, increase the heat and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden browned and crisp.

✤Preheat oven to 400 degrees. spray a cookie sheet and the rogi with non-stick cooking spray. Bake for 18-20 minutes, turning once halfway through, until golden browned and puffy.

EAT THOSE DUMPLINS!

Remove from the pan and serve with melted butter, browned butter and sautéed onions, applesauce, kielbasa, sauerkraut, or sour cream.
