Medical update
Hey there Pola-Verse
Thanks again to all of you who have been checking in on us throughout the course of this journey. It is truly humbling to have so many amazing people in our corner and we know how blessed we are.
I wanted to share an update as to how I’m doing since the big surgery on the 9th!
I was able to get all 4 of the drains removed a little over a week ago and am finally moving around a bit better on my own. For those of you who know me personally, you know how difficult it is for me to sit still and relax so this has been a difficult recovery to say the least! I met with the breast oncologist on Friday for a post-op assessment and to begin planning the second portion of the surgery which will occur sometime in mid-May. There is still quite a lot of healing that needs to occur, but everything is certainly moving in the right direction. I think the hardest part is not being able to use my arms like one normally would or pull myself up off the couch due to the large abdominal incision and muscle impairment. I will say though that it is getting a littler easier every day and I’m still quite happy with the end results.
We also wanted to spread the word again that a good friend of ours has launched a GoFundMe campaign where donations will help with covering the medical bills, purchasing necessary post op equipment and supplies, and keeping ourselves afloat while I’m out of work. We appreciate any support you can give as no donation is too small! If you are not able to contribute financially, we completely understand. However, we would be immensely grateful if you could share our GoFundMe with your friends and family on social media or through email. Every little bit helps, and your support could make all the difference in our ability to survive during these challenging times. We are grateful for your generosity and look forward to one day in the near future being able to sling pierogi and pickles for y'all again!
